The controversial desing of Natlan characters in Genshin Impact: Are these designs really good?
3/3/2025
The video game Genshin Impact needs to work better in their Natlan characters. Why these characters can´t represent Africa and Latin America?
I play this game and I can say that Natlan characters needs more inclusion and better clothes, some of the designs are revealing for the female characters and it makes the game looks less serious because it has a great story and this situation is deteriorating the game.
Since the update 4.1 with the introduction of the new nation Natlan, the community of the game is mad because they wanted more representation, like the characters having darker skin, clothes more appropriate for the situation and the culture of the nation.
If they wanted more public, they should do what the commnity wants. It is really difficult to do a good representation of people from other continent without whitewashing them?
An example can be the character Mavuika, she has a very strange design, like the zipper in her clothes reveling her chest, everybody knows that this detail is intentional just for the fanservice and thats why the community is mad with Genshin Impact.
In my opinion, The organization that manages the video game should listen more to the opinions of its players
First, too short, there are some spelling mistakes made here and there.

Take for example Iansan, she is a very representative character of the cultural significance of tribes, and her clothes are meaningful and expressive.
Other thing is, the comunnity in Genshin Impact is well known for getting mad at everything the game does, or at least the things they don't like, you don't see people praising the changes made to benefit players, because they only want to see the bad things, and also, if someone doesn't have their perspective, they get angry and complain, even threaten the other person because of it.
Last but not least, one of the worst things a company can do is follow what people do, i'm not saying that tweaking mechanics that players don't like is bad, but directly taking their opinion and using it to repair the game usually does more bad than good for the game.
Now, I see your point with characters like Varesa, where they oversexualize a character just for sales, when it just doesn't fit in the theme and style of the game at all, but I think a little experimentation from the devs side is good for the game and for the players.
